The COVID-19 pandemic has changed health care delivery and the ways patients interact with the health care system. States are making major policy and regulatory changes to expand health systems and telehealth capabilities to meet the needs of patients and providers due to the global pandemic. The continued provision of clinically appropriate telehealth services past the emergency period is especially important for residents of rural and frontier areas, people in communities disadvantaged by social and economic injustice, individuals with compromised immune systems, severe chronic conditions, and disabilities, and those without reliable access to transportation.
