The world is currently facing a pediatric mental health crisis, with 1 out of every 4 children experiencing elevated depression symptoms and 1 in 5 experiencing elevated anxiety. In total, 20 million U.S. children are estimated to have a mental health disorder. The reasons for this concerning trend are many, including genetics and environmental factors such as social media use and growing gun violence. However, a large contributing factor was the COVID-19 pandemic and the traumatic environment it created (e.g., social isolation, fear of infection, disrupted access to education, illness or death of a loved one).

For your convenience, the same webinar will be offered on two dates. Join us on either June 14 or 15, when we will discuss the link between trauma and mental health disorders, review the prevalence of the current pediatric mental health crisis, identify inequities among pediatric patients with mental and behavioral concerns, and provide actionable strategies that health centers and free clinics can implement to help improve mental healthcare in their communities.
