Since the implementation of the Comprehensive Adult Dental Benefit in MaineCare on July 1, 2022, dental practices are seeing more vulnerable populations and learning how to best serve them is as important as the benefit itself.
Please join us as Gia Drew, Executive Director of Equality Maine, presents on the basics of creating a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ people receiving dental care, plus hiring and working alongside LGBTQ+ people. She will share examples of inclusive language and terminology and best practices for creating inclusive spaces and resources.
In addition, Dr. Florence Edwards, DDS, Jesse Albert Dental and Orthodontic Center, will share her professional insight on issues facing the LGBTQIA+ population in the dental office, to include fears, former community traumas that impact care, use of hormones and their oral manifestations for those transitioning.
After Dr. Edward’s presentation there will be an opportunity to ask confidential questions in a safe, respectful environment.
