Please join us for an hour-long training session that explores implicit bias in health care. Kathryn Norgang, Clinical Educator for Interprofessional Practice at UNE will discuss what implicit bias is, how our individual experiences and social influences shape unintentional biases, the impact of implicit bias on health care, and what we as health care team members can do to counter this process. She will discuss different tools to be intentional in our interactions with our colleagues and patients with the goal of providing equitable care.

Objectives:
- Differentiate between bias and implicit bias.
- Increase awareness about how identity and personal experience, cultural membership, and social influence shape our own perceptions and form biases.
- Examine implicit bias in health care.
- Demonstrate how interprofessional teams can work together to encourage behaviors that promote awareness, equity, improve patient care and the work environment.
Target Audience: Front office staff, clinical support staff such as CHWs, medical and dental assistants, patient service reps, assisters, etc.
