As we ring in the new year, we are celebrating the ongoing expansion of MePCA’s Patient Safety Organization (officially known to AHRQ as the MePCA PSO). Thanks to all of you who have participated in our 2019 kick-offs, with on-line and in-person events and trainings.
The goal of our PSO is to reduce medical errors and build a culture of safety. As such, one of the strategies employed by PSOs is the SafeTable—an interactive review and discussion of a non-identifiable patient safety event. SafeTables occur regularly among contracted members of a PSO and become a valuable opportunity to learn best practices in patient safety. While many of you are still getting oriented to MePCA PSO, we want to introduce the SafeTable concept to the whole MPCA network, so that you can experience it first-hand. In collaboration with our ECRI partners, we will present the SafeTable using non-identifiable cases from the ECRI national database of patient safety events.
Our SafeTable will occur on 2/11/20 at 1:30 pm, as a 90-minute collaborative interactive meeting available both in-person and by Zoom. There will be a presentation, a didactic portion and a portion where the members themselves offer guidance and suggestions on improving or changing outcomes. All are welcome to attend (regardless of your PSO member status); please include any members of your CHC interested in promoting the culture of safety.
Come ready to both learn and teach!
