September 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Registration

On July 11, 2023, Governor Mills signed an historic budget that included the creation of a paid family and medical leave program, making Maine the 13th state to establish one. Beginning in 2026, eligible workers in the private and public sector will have 12 weeks of paid time off available to them for family or medical reasons including illness, to care for a relative, or for the birth of a child. Employers must start contributing 1% of their payroll to a pool of funds on January 1, 2025.

The new Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) law takes effect January 1, 2025. This FREE workshop will help CHCs learn about the elements of the law, understand this new employee benefit and consider implications for employers. Scott McKee from Acadia Benefits will share the current facts of the law and its implications for employers in this informative workshop. By the end of this workshop, participates will:

  • Learn the elements of the Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) Law
  • Understand how the benefit is calculated
  • Learn about employer responsibilities for enacting this law

Target Audience: FQHC CEOs, CFOs, COOs and HR leads
