DESCRIPTION:Quick Links:\nRegistration \nThis timely and informative training will provide health center staff with practical tools to prevent\, de-escalate\, and respond to conflict in the workplace. Grounded in person-centered principles\, the session will explore strategies for recognizing early warning signs\, safely interrupting escalating behavior\, and maintaining professional boundaries in high-stress situations. Participants will also learn how to respond effectively to imminent threats of violence and how to support both staff and clients through debriefing and self-care practices. \nKey Learning Objectives: \n\nDefine workplace violence and identify common patient\, client\, and staff factors that contribute to escalation.\nRecognize early warning signs of conflict and apply prevention strategies to create a safe and welcoming environment; Demonstrate effective de-escalation techniques\, including communication\, stance\, and boundary-setting practices that prioritize safety; and Identify appropriate responses to imminent threats of violence\, including when and how to involve law enforcement and other supports.\nImplement follow-up and debriefing practices that promote staff well-being\, strengthen organizational learning\, and support a safe workplace culture.\n\nTarget Audience: All health center staff are welcome to attend; however\, this training is designed with patient-facing frontline staff in mind. \nFor more information\, contact Megan Cross: mcross@mepca.org or (207) 707-5112.
